Rescue Dogs Rock NYC is asking for your help to take care of a poor little girl from Texas who is in desperate need of medical care.
When eight-month-old Lola arrived at animal control, she was unresponsive and unable to stand, and she was in such a poor state they couldn’t immediately tell if she was a boy or a girl. Rescue Dogs Rock was contacted immediately and arranged for emergency vet care. She needed an urgent blood transfusion because she was so anemic.
This poor little girl was so weak and showed such terrible signs of neglect that she looked like a burn victim. The pain she must have been in was unimaginable, and rescuers were not even sure if she would make it through the night. How could anyone have left her to get to this condition? The cruelty this poor little girl has suffered deserves severe punishment, and we hope that justice is served to those who have allowed this to happen.
Thankfully, due to the dedication of medical staff along with the blood transfusion, fluids, antibiotics, and pain medication, Lola has beaten the odds and survived. Though she is not yet out of the woods, as Lola has so many things going on for her at the moment. Lola has Demodex mange along with pyoderma and a bad skin condition that has left her skin swollen, red, bloody, and raw in places. She is painfully emaciated with barely any hair left. Her white blood cell count is very high, and she is full of hookworms. She also has bilateral corneal ulcers, and it’s still unclear if her sight might be fully saved.
Lola may currently look a little like an overplucked chicken, but this amazing little girl is fighting hard to make a full recovery. We wish you well, Lola! We hope you are back to health soon and will find yourself a forever home full of love.
No reason can justify what has happened to Lola and countless other neglected animals like her. It takes time for these conditions to develop to the extent they have in her young body. Someone has allowed this to happen to her; they should be ashamed of themselves! If you suspect that an animal is being neglected, please don’t turn a blind eye.
Rescue Dogs Rock continues to impress us with their fierce determination to rescue and rehabilitate dogs in desperate need like Lola. If you are considering adopting a new animal in your family or are able to donate to help them continue their vital work, please visit their Facebook page.
