It’s been a little over a month since Edgar’s Mission resident Hip Hop Bob had spinal surgery after her back limbs suddenly became paralyzed. While finding a skilled vet to perform the delicate surgery was a challenge in itself, the recovery process is also arduous. Thankfully, Hip Hop couldn’t be in better care at Edgar’s Mission were she is getting spoiled with lots of love, watermelon, and David Attenborough.

Yes, you heard correctly … according to her caretakers, this little piggy enjoys listening to the soothing tones of David Attenborough’s Natural World series on her iPad! Whale scenes are reportedly among her favorite – so much so she will even sit up and grunt with pleasure. Now that has to be the cutest thing ever! Hip Hop’s caretakers also tried playing Peppa Pig for her, but she turned her nose up at it. Apparently, Hip Hop is way too mature for that!

Hip Hop Bob is a prime example of why all animals deserve to be shown the same respect and love as our pets at home. Pigs are intelligent (Did you know pigs are actually more intelligent than dogs … and in some cases three-year-old kids?) and highly social animals, developing social ranks and apparently, preferences, too!

Getting a 300-pound pig back on her feet comes with challenges, but we are confident that she will be back up and trotting around in no time. In fact, she has already regained feeling in her back legs! Let’s keep this sweet girl in our thoughts as she continues to have a quick and smooth recovery.
