As if we needed to give you any more reasons to adopt a rescued animal! A southwest Ohio couple who adopted a Saint Bernard to save him say he saved their home from burglary a few hours later.
Rubert “Lee” Littler says he was taking Hercules outside Wednesday night when the 135-pound dog started growling, then charged after a man running out of their basement. The dog bit into the man’s ankle as he climbed a fence and got away. The man had cut the phone and cable lines running to their home and had sneaked into the basement.
“Originally, we adopted him because we didn’t want him to be euthanized. We thought we’d get him back up and going and see if we couldn’t get him a new home or some rescue group to take him,” Lee Littler told the Times Gazette. “But now we don’t know what we’re going to do. I think he’s more or less earned his right to stay.”
