Poaching, deforestation and the continued production of greenhouse gases are the main man-made drivers of what scientists are calling “the Sixth Extinction.” In Earth’s history, there have been five major periods of mass species extinction and given the fact that 52 percent of the world’s wildlife has disappeared from the planet in the past 40 years, all signs indicate we’ve breached into the sixth.

But the good news is, there is still time and hope that we can turn this extinction train around – the only catch, we have to take action … and now!

In their groundbreaking new film, “Racing Extinction,” Oceanic Preservation Society (OPS) travels the world to show us what is happening to the world’s species and even more importantly, what we can do about it. Working with state of the art technology, OPS gives us visuals like we’ve never seen before to help us understand this incredibly difficult challenge we are now facing. Tracking down illegal wildlife trade rings, and literally projecting the faces of endangered animals on the face of the UN building, this courageous team is on a mission to inspire us all to join the race against extinction.
