Humans have always been captivated by the beauty and magnificence of wild animals. Sadly, their beauty has led many people to capture and exploit wild animals for use in entertainment, like in zoos and circuses. The greed of some people has also caused the devastating poaching epidemic that plagues endangered wild animals all around the world.
According to a petition on Care2, two lion best friends named Jose and Liso were brutally murdered by poachers while living at the Emoya Big Cat Sanctuary in South Africa. The petition’s author explains that Jose and Liso had bonded while enduring a life of abuse at a circus. When they were rescued from the circus and brought to the sanctuary, their future seemed bright for the first time, and the bonded pair adjusted well to living freely at their new home. Sadly, these beautiful lions were enjoying life at the sanctuary for less than a year before they were mercilessly beheaded and skinned by poachers who broke into the facilities.
The petition states authorities are still looking for the poachers responsible for this horrendous crime, but something must be done now to protect the rest of the animals residing at Emoya Big Cat Sanctuary.
Please take a moment to sign this petition asking the South African government to step in and protect the remaining wild cats at the sanctuary. Prior to life at the sanctuary, these animals endured a life laden with misery and abuse, and they certainly deserve to live freely without the fear of poaching. Please share this with your friends and family and encourage them to join you in signing the petition!
