Furever Bully Love Rescue, a charity in Orlando, Florida, rescued a dog with the most horrific face injury. The dog, Achilles, was found in off of Lake Harney with his snout literally “shredded.” The rescuers do not know what happened to the animal, but, since Achilles’s arrival, they have been doing everything in their power to help him. (WARNING: The photos are graphic.)

With the extensive wounds all over his head, Achilles requires extensive medical care, most likely including reconstruction. He has already made it through his first surgery which lasted over three hours.

Despite his awful condition and what he had to endure, this sweet dog still wags his tail enthusiastically when he sees his carers. He is now getting help at Crystal Creek Animal Hospital.

These surgeries are just the beginning of Achilles’s recovery process, but his rescuers are looking forward “to watching him blossom from his life as he was holding on to so tightly.”

Achilles has suffered unimaginably, and we may never know why. Thankfully, he is finally in good hands and he is receiving the best care he can get. We can only hope that what awaits this special dog is a complete transformation and full recovery.
