Pit Bulls have a bad (and frankly undeserved) reputation for being aggressive, vicious dogs. But it’s easy to see by Kiah, the Pit Bull in this video, that this reputation is 100 percent wrong.
This sweet pup is defying stereotypes and destroying obstacles for Pit Bulls everywhere by becoming the first police canine in Poughkeepsie, New York’s police department. But not only is she a trendsetter, she’s also a recovered and prospering survivor of animal abuse.

The NYPD found Kiah in a Texas animal shelter after her previous owner was arrested for animal cruelty. Sadly, Pit Bulls are often subject to abuse and trained to fight for profit. But despite her tragic past, Kiah is a shining example of canine resilience.

As you can see, she’s energetic, friendly, loyal, and has an unwavering dedication to her work. Her handler Justin Bruzgul says that she has an excellent work ethic and that will become a model police dog!

Hopefully, Kiah’s example will help inspire others to let go of their preconceived notions about Pit Bulls and get to know each dog as an individual instead.
