A Brazilian couple has sparked outrage on the internet after they dyed a 60ft waterfall blue in a ridiculous gender reveal party.

The couple decided to dye the waters of the beautiful waterfall bright blue for their baby’s gender reveal party last week. The parents have been slammed by the internet for their blatant disregard for the planet, with many calling it an environmental disaster for the river. The river serves the town of Tangará da Serra in the state of Mato Grosso.

The town has experienced a drought that has affected the water supply, so it’s no surprise that local authorities were quite upset when the couple contaminated the water for the party. Local authorities have launched an investigation and sent a team to the waterfall called the Queima-Pe River waterfall.

“The inspection will investigate the environmental damage caused by the material thrown into the water,” the Environment Secretary for the state of Mato Grosso (Sema-MT) said in a statement.

“If there is an environmental crime, those responsible will be charged and may be held accountable for an environmental crime.”
