While it may be easy to get caught up in all the negative stories out there about humans harming and abusing animals, it’s important to remember that for every sad story there is also an equally amazing and uplifting story that shows the compassionate side of humans. If you are in need of a bit of a boost to restore your faith in the wonderful side of humanity, we certainly have one for you!
When Imgur user, Jevausie spotted a bird on the side of the street one day after work, they took it upon themselves to investigate the situation and find out what had grounded this little creature. Where most birds would fly away when seeing a human, this bird just inched away and puffed up. It soon became clear that this was a bird of prey fledgling who must have fallen out of his nest and was too young to fly.
The little bird’s rescuer promptly called “Raptor Rehab,” their local bird of prey rescue center, and brought his new bird friend in for examination.
The fledgling’s rescuer was told that one in four falcon chicks survive their first year, and since there was no nest or mama bird in sight, they would have to care for this baby.
He was named “Viktor” after Viktor Krum because of his little grumpy scowl.
Viktor was pretty nervous and still not so sure about humans, but he seemed to like the Raptor Rehab volunteer’s shirt.
It was alright that Viktor didn’t like humans because Raptor Rehab had a nice family of American Kestrels that would take him in.
Since Viktor was so young, he would need to stay at the center through the winter and spring, but his rescuer is allowed to visit and check-in on him anytime! Although he was named for his scowl he seems like a pretty happy bird…
