The Cat People of Melbourne team has taken in an entire feline family that was abandoned under the most senseless circumstances by an irresponsible “guardian.” Now, the two adult cats and a litter of baby kittens are safe and recovering from the sad incident – keeping close and waiting for someone special to give them a home.

The two cats and their litter of kittens were found in a taped-up box, abandoned in the street …

The box was fortunately found and brought to a vet clinic where the cats were spotted by one of the charity’s rescuers. The mama cat refused to stop cuddling her kittens the whole time.

The two bicolor cats are both “lovely, sweet, socialized pets.” Neither the grown-ups nor the babies display any signs of illness.

The little family is now urgently looking for a foster (or forever) home, so they can find real comfort and the kittens can grow up in a warm home. It’s so heartbreaking to see someone abandon their pets because they didn’t take the appropriate actions to ensure they wouldn’t have kittens. Spaying and neutering pets is vitally important and should not be overlooked by responsible guardians. We hope that this sweet family finds a new home where they will be given the proper care and respect that they deserve.

If you are interested in adopting or fostering the cats, message Cat People of Melbourne via their Facebook page. To learn more about Cat People of Melbourne, click here.

Just heartbreaking. Those poor cats - lost and confused as to why they\'re no longer in their home.
I\'d like to see the person who did this taped into a box and dropped off in the most remote place possible.

Animals are not disposable when they become more than you night have bargained for.
Thank Goodness they were found, and are in safe hands. Good Thoughts for their re-homing. In pairs.

PS: How do you stop 100 cats from being killed in shelters?
Spay one.

Under my benevolent dictatorship, a diligent investigation would be made, the perps found, and sent to prison for a long time.

Pathetic. Whenever I see a bag or box on side of the road, I feel compelled to make sure it does not contain dumped animals. Glad they were found, but I think of all the ones that never are :(

And here I thought I was the only person who did this.
I hate the idea that some animal was left suffering.
Keep on being YOU!

That is soooo sad! I have two "Rescue cats". To see the mother careing for her kittins, in that situation, is vary touching! People should know that animals have "feelings" too! They are not "disposable", if that is how a person feels, they shouldn\'t have a pet in the first place.
