Interspecies friendships – don’t you just love ’em? These relationships seem to fascinate humans for a whole variety of reasons, but perhaps the most important one is that they give us an insight into the rich, complex emotional lives of non-human animals – lives that are all too often ignored.

Prepare to have your heart warmed by the story of Davina and Maisy, a goose and dog who reside at The Old Station House Inn in Devon, England!

Davina was born blind and relies on the guidance of her terrier BFF, Maisy, to get around her home.

Martin Shepherd, the guardian of the animals, says in the video that while Maisy does not get along with the rest of the geese, she has always made an effort to treat Davina with “absolute kindness and care at all times.”

It hasn’t always been fun and games for this pair though. Davina has also been at the center of an ongoing love triangle involving Maisy and a gander named Lionel. With Maisy and Lionel vying for the blind goose’s affections, feathers (and fur) often fly!

Martin Shepherd said of the pair’s squabbles, “It’s funny to watch the two of them sparring around the garden … I have seen the gander flapping across the yard with Maisy hanging on to his tail feathers.”

Let’s hope the rivals patch things up, Green Monsters! And in the meantime, check out the adorable video.
