People can be the worst. And a man from Las Vegas has gone out of his way to prove that by filming himself brutally beating a dog, then threatening to do the same with women.
Damon Holmes made the video to send to Animal Advocate Gina Grieson of Nevada Voters for Animals. In the video, he viciously attacks this innocent dog, then threatens to do the same to his former girlfriend and her family, along with worse violence. We are astonished that this vile human being is still at large. That he is being investigated by the FBI, Metro, and the Utah Authorities tells us that this man is a danger to the public. How has he evaded arrest for this long?
Grieson said, “When I clicked on the video to watch it, it was utterly shocking. I mean I was horrified not only by what was happening to the dog but by the threats that were being made. When someone video tapes themselves that violently beating a helpless animal and then making threats to rape and kill and slit throats and throw bodies in rivers, why is this person not being arrested?” This video was made to instill fear into its receiver. Grieson has shown no such thing, and instead has been spreading awareness of this barbaric act in the hope of helping the man be caught.
Thankfully, Grieson has since been informed that the dog in the video is safe and being cared for, so they won’t come to any more harm. What we fear is that this animal cruelty case might just be dismissed as they tend to be. We can’t let this happen, for the safety of both humans and dogs.
Studies have shown that an inclination towards animal violence is a strong indicator of a person being able to do the same to a human being. 71 percent of women who are victims of domestic violence have reported that their abusive partners have first abused, threatened, or killed their pets. This man needs to be off the streets, now, before he can do harm to anyone else.
Care2 has raised a petition demanding that the FBI continues its investigation into Damon Holmes, that their search continues until the public is safe and he is in custody. Please add your signature to the petition — we can’t let this aggressive bully get away with such an awful act.
