Compassion Without Borders is an animal rescue and welfare organization based in Santa Rosa, California that provides much-needed veterinary care for companion animals in low-income areas in California and Mexico. Their rescue team in Mexico recently came across two sweet German Shepherds who were in dire need of help.

The dogs were so malnourished that their ribs were jutting out from under their thin coats and they were weak with low energy.

Both dogs were severely neglected and emaciated, and one is deemed to be in critical condition. They are both under careful watch by the Compassion Without Borders rescue team.

If you are moved by the story of these two gentle spirits and are able to Donate toward their rehabilitation (or are interested in adopting one or both of them), please visit the Compassion Without Borders website here.

Sadly, these two loving dogs are not the only animals suffering on the streets, and animal neglect and abandonment is a serious widespread issue common across all countries. It is estimated that 5,500 innocent animals are killed in U.S. shelters daily, many of whom are killed merely because there is not enough room to keep them. This is why adoption and fostering are so important. To help lower the euthanasia rate in your town, contact your local animal shelters and rescues and ask how you can become involved in fostering or other volunteer work. Additionally, spaying and neutering companion animals is a major way to help decrease the rate of abandoned animals.

And please remember to share this story with your network as an important reminder why people should adopt!
