This is Maisie. Maisie is a recent rescue of Hope for Paws, and she is possibly the sweetest stray you’ll ever meet. But many people wouldn’t give her a second look, much less try to approach her or help her, just because of her breed. Maisie is a pit bull, and while we don’t recommend approaching every stray dog you meet on the street (and especially don’t recommend grabbing a stray by the leg like you can see in the video), we hope that this video can dispel some of the myths of Pit Bull aggression and violence.
No breed of dog is innately more violent than another, just as no race of people is innately more violent.
Right now, Maisie is safe in the care of Ace of Hearts Dog Rescue, who are fostering her. But she is still waiting for a forever home. Find out more about Maisie and Hope for Paws here. Help us spread the word so that people can see what a real Pit Bull is like, and so that we can find Maisie the loving home she deserves.
I did my fact checking on research before I spoke and can cite my sources unlike you uninformed rant. Can you cite your sources and Pit Bull owners are hardly objective. Maybe think ASCPA, PETA and the CDC are just prejuidiced aganist Pit Bulls. I have encounterd many of these dogs as a probation officer even though it\’s against the law for them to own an aggressive dog, Criminals just love Pitt Bulls.
To Mr. Brown you are the one who is uninformed. Read http://time.com/2891180/kfc-and-the-pit-bull-attack-of-a-little-girl/ . Then read this http://www.daytondailynews.com/news/news/pit-bulls-on-the-attack-and-under-attack-in-region/ngyGx/ and this http://www.dogsbite.org/dog-bite-statistics.php. Why do you think Border Collies herd even when they are not taught and Blue Heelers heel. They were bred for this purpose. You are the ingnorant one here.
This pretty girl was obviously loved by someone. Just by looking at her you know she was looked after well by someone because of how healthy she is. Then, add the very affectionate and trusting temperament and she just must have been someone\’s best friend.
I can\’t help but wonder how she became homeless?
You obviously have no idea how dogs are bred. Pit Bulls were bred to fight. The took the most agressive dogs and bred them to other aggressive dogs which results in centuries of gentically aggressive dogs. Do some homework these dogs are number one in fatal dog attacks. They can never be trusted no matter how gently their are handled, They are bred to kill and it would take decades of breeding to breed these traits out. Inform yourself about basic gentics before you post this crap. People who think that Pit Bulls are safe are fools and encouraging people to adopt them are setting others up for tragedy.
And by the way researchers have found and isolated a gene in animals that causes them to be wild.
If you had ever seen a child ripped apart by these animals you might wise up; but I doubt it.
Even PETA recommends these dogs be spayed and nuetered.
Oh PLEASE! Someone needs to go back to remedial class and learn the truth about Pit Bulls (otherwise known as Staffordshire Terriers and called by the nickname "Nanny Dogs" because by NATURE – they are gentle and loving companion dogs. Take a moment and do a "fact check" on all the unsupported assertions you\’ve somehow come to believe.
My opinion is directed toward S Pen – who might benefit from even a little info about dog breeding.
