Beagle Freedom Project just rescued a batch of lucky beagles from animal testing and a life in a laboratory. Up until the moment the dogs were saved by the organization, they had never been outdoors or even just outside of their cages. Upon arriving at the rescue, they finally got a taste of what freedom is – and they saw sunlight for the very first time.

The rescue group captured the incredible moments when the saved beagles felt the sun on their backs and stepped on grass for the first time in their lives. The feeling was new and strange and the dogs were not sure about the soft grass under their paws – they needed some time to adjust and gain courage. Once they did, they made not only their first steps outside of the cages but also their first steps into their new lives, ones finally worth living!

The beagles will need lots of patience and careful affection from the volunteers to help them make the transition into life as a pet – after all, in the labs, the only human interaction they received was for testing. We certainly hope that these pups can begin to forget their past lives and embrace the wonders of being a dog full on!
