If you’ve ever seen the movie “Open Water,” you know that getting stuck out at sea is no picnic. You’re susceptible to hypothermia, you could be possible prey for the various aquatic creatures that reside in the murky waters, and of course, privy to the scariness of nightfall. The ocean can be a vast and mysterious thing – even for the creatures in it.
While a sea turtle‘s natural environment is the water, if it gets caught in marine pollution, like a net, this can impede its movement. We might think that when we’re in the water we’re threatened by marine life, the reality is, marine life are more often threatened by pollution caused by humans.
Being careful to avoid the jaws of a turtle, one of the rescuers cut off the plastic trappings and then promptly slide the turtle off that boat as if he were sliding a saucer into the sink! Free at last, the turtle can become part of his watery home again, sans net!
