TikTok user @dogsense recently shared a post detailing how they introduced their tiny Chihuahua puppy to their older dog. The new puppy Halo was excited to meet older Belgian Malinois, Atlas. However, the human wanted to be extra careful due to the dogs’ different sizes. Since Atlas is a large, powerful breed he could have easily hurt tiny Halo. So, the human gave them a gradual introduction.
@dogsense With a high drive, powerful dog & a tiny puppy, we didnt take any chances. It took 2 weeks until Halo wasn’t hyper-energised when she saw Atlas. We progressed in stages until we saw the novelty wore off. Its lovely to see how Halo regulates herself when playing with him. They’ve developed a great bond. Big thanks to @Who’s A Good Boy Industries @unleashedk9services @Larry Krohn for their advice. Very grateful for the Support ❤️
Now, the human says the two pups have an amazing bond! People online are praising the gradual, careful way these two dogs were introduced. When introducing new dogs, it is important to exercise caution and take it slowly. Read more about how to introduce a new puppy to an older dog here.
