Animal Aid Unlimited was called to rescue a street dog who was slowly dying in a sewer. It is quite literally a miracle that this dog was still alive. The poor boy was severely emaciated, ridden with mange, and swarming with flies. You could tell that he was ready for the suffering to be over, he looked like he was ready to die. Rescuers weren’t about to let this gentle soul go without knowing that there was more to life than that.

Back at the shelter they named the dog Shayam and began emergency care, including IV fluids for dehydration, food to nourish his body, and lots of much-needed rest. Shayam also received several weeks of treatment for mange and of course, the best medicine of all – lots of love. This precious boy went from the brink of death to a healthy and happy soul, all thanks to one phone call and the amazing work of Animal Aid Unlimited.

It took several months of tender love and care for rescuers to get Shayam to this point, but you can help in a matter of minutes by making a donation. Street dogs in India face extreme dangers and obstacles that don’t leave them with much chance of survival. They depend on animal lovers to give them a chance at a life worth living. It doesn’t matter where they are in the world, they are innocent and need your help.
