Rangers at Kruger National Park in South Africa were a tad confused when they stumbled upon this curious predator-prey interaction. When taking tourists around, an young impala was found not running from, but playing with, a leopard. This little impala seems set on making this leopard his new best friend, and the leopard seems ok with the relationship. Even when the leopard plays a little too rough, the impala doesn’t seem worried.

Rangers at the park said the interaction went on for about an hour. Then the leopard walked away into the brush, the impala following close behind. It’s not our place to speculate how their relationship will continue, but let’s imagine that they grow old together, best of friends. Perhaps, they pull a Timon and Pumba, going on adventures and surviving on insects. If those two can convince Simba to survive on this kind of diet, why can’t an impala convince a leopard? We wish you well, brave, little impala!
