Florida Urgent Rescue has taken in a dog who was struggling to survive in the woods of rural St. Johns County, Florida after suffering a grave injury. The dog, Sami, is believed to have been dumped by a hunter and possibly thrown from a vehicle. Her caretakers estimate that she was living on her own for several months before she was found by a kind person who brought her to the rescue. Now, Sami is finally getting the help she needs and is fighting to stay alive.
Sami’s condition was horrific. She was emaciated and her body was covered in bleeding wounds …
She began intensive treatment at Saint Francis Animal Hospital that included time in a Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy chamber. Slowly, her skin began to improve thanks to the therapy and she began to walk a little better.
Since the beginning of her recovery, Sami has made good progress. According to her dedicated carers, she is now getting better with each day.
Sami has a long way to go still, but her loving foster parent and the rescue team are doing everything to heal her and give her a second chance at a life.
