There is no doubt about it, Green Monsters: plant-based diets are becoming more and more in vogue these days. As public awareness about the horrors of factory farming and the devastating environmental impacts of a meat-heavy diet has increased, more and more famous faces are openly proclaiming their decision to more plant-based. Last month, the World Health Organization (WHO)’s announcement that bacon, ham, and sausages are cancerous even in small amounts led many people to re-examine their attachment to these foods. As a general trend, one-third of Americans are choosing to leave meat and dairy off their plates more frequently and are seeking out plant-based food options.
No doubt about it, the plant-based trend is here to stay … and with that, has come a whole lot of attention from celebrities, whose actions can often influence their fans to consider changing their food choices too. Whether celebs are just trying the diet or choosing to make a complete diet change, the fact that they are making the effort to change their ways shows just how popular this idea has become.
And now, the singer Ellie Goulding is joining the ranks of others including Miley Cyrus and Beyoncé, describing herself as “an aspiring vegan.” She revealed that her diet has become almost entirely vegan recently, as she finds that it helps her to stay fit and healthy, and to honor as many of her performance commitments as possible.
Goulding said, “I make green juice for myself almost every day. I put in things like bananas, avocado, spinach, broccoli – whatever’s in my fridge, really. Sweet potato fries and salad are my absolute favorites. They make the perfect meal. I eat a lot of quinoa and nuts, too, but I also love eating chips.”
We can certainly agree with indulging in chips every now and then!
The star combines her plant-based diet with “a killer fitness routine” that helps her to perform to the very best of her ability. It’s so wonderful to see celebrities bringing awareness to the many benefits of eating more plant-based foods. Celebs are often hesitant to make broad claims about their diet choices, but Ellie’s aspirational vegan attitude shows that you don’t have to be “perfect” to make a positive change.
