Most of us have a disconnect with wild animals. Sure, we see photos of them within the pages of National Geographic, or we’ll intentionally seek these images out, but most of us have not had the pleasure of engaging with magnificent creatures in person. People who spend their lives in sanctuaries, on the other hand, are able to see and interact with animals in a way that is much different than most of the public.
In the video above, for example, you see Lek Chailert, the founder of Elephant Nature Park, spending some quality time with her ellie friends. After many years working with these animals, she has learned what they like, what soothes them, and what makes them feel safe despite all of the turmoil they have likely been through. Faamai, the elephant in the video, loves to be sung lullabies. As soon as Lek starts singing a lullaby, Faamai can’t help but fall into sweet, sweet sleep. We can hardly take the cuteness!
These elephants have been through a lot of hardship in their lives, but the fact that they can open their hearts to a kind caretaker truly shows their loving character. To learn more about the lives of these animals, check out Elephant Nature Park‘s website!
