For the first time ever, coffee lovers will be able to pick up a bottle of vegan Coffee-mate non-dairy creamer. Previously, the company has only featured non-dairy creamer, which may be suitable for those who are lactose intolerant, but not for anyone following a plant-based diet, as non-dairy creamer does actually contain milk-derived ingredients. While there are already several different kinds of plant-based coffee creamer out there from companies like Califia Farms, Silk, and So Delicious, this is Coffee-mate’s first foray into any sort of vegan product as a result of growing consumer demand.
According to Brand Director, Daniel Jhung in a press release, “we know the increasing popularity of plant-based, non-dairy creamers is not just a trend, but a consumer preference that is here to stay.” True facts. The consumption of plant-based milk is at an all-time high, with almond milk leading the way. In just five years, the almond milk industry grew 250 percent to more than $894.6 million. Coffee creamer is also incredibly popular among coffee drinkers in the United States; 62 percent of coffee drinkers take theirs with creamer and 68 percent of the retail market for coffee creamer is held by Coffee-Mate. Coffee-Mate is taking a huge advantage of the almond milk market by featuring that as the base for their new creamers. We can only imagine that the combined popularity of the brand and product will result in a lot of success for the company.
Four new all-vegan flavors will soon be released under the company’s Natural Bliss line, which uses minimal ingredients and non-GMO ingredients. This line was created in response to growing consumer demand for more “natural” food. The line will feature four different flavors, Caramel Almond Milk, Vanilla Almond Milk, Hazelnut Almond Milk, and Sweet Créme Coconut Milk, will be available starting March 2017.
