PETA gave out toilet paper in Australia as citizens began stocking up for coronavirus. Panic buying across the country meant that toilet paper was out of stores across the country.

Emblazoned with “Wipe Out Animal Borne Illness: Go Vegan,” the toilet paper was handed out on March 11, according to the Daily Mail. PETA is encouraging people to go vegan in light of the fact that scientists believe the coronavirus was spread from an animal to a human.

“We must get to the bottom of the issue and consider the link between these kinds of viruses and humanity’s flesh fetish. With every flush, this paper will remind users that the only real way to prevent future panic is by avoiding meat like the plague,” PETA spokeswoman Emily Rice said.

PETA didn’t confirm how many rolls they had handed out, but told the Daily Mail, “Like most people, PETA has an extremely limited number of rolls right now. Luckily, every single square bears the vital “go vegan” message, so, even if our volunteers find they only have a “square to spare” for each commuter. We’ll still be having an important conversation about the fact that raising animals for food is a crappy practice if we want to ensure pandemics like Covid-19, Swine Flu and Bird Flu don’t keep happening.”

PETA reports that the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention say more than 75% of emerging diseases come from animals. Australia’s confirmed cases continue to grow, and had hit 450 people by March 17.

Scientists believe that the spread of COVID-19, or coronavirus, started at an exotic animal market in Wuhan, China. You can help stop the incidence of viruses like these by signing this petition to ban the wildlife trade.
