The boundaries of art and reality often overlap, with each influencing the other. New York City-based artists Zaria Forman uses her large-scale works show the earth’s shifting landscape due to the progression of climate change. Pulling from the ever looming reality of our changing planet, Forman creates beautiful pieces of art that call the audience to face the future.

Going to nature and working amidst its beauty is a great inspiration for Forman which is evident in the depth and clarity of her work. If her goal is to connect with the viewer, she does so tenfold because her paintings are so lifelike, one feels like if they touched one of her paintings, they might get their hands wet on an iceberg!

Comprehending the reality of climate change is not something that most people are willing to do. After all, hearing the horrific news and reports can make you want to just shut down and give up. Forman’s work, however, serves as inspiration to us all to remember what exactly we stand to lose and inspire us to set apathy aside and make a difference.
