3. Chia Seed

Chia seeds are the same seeds used in the famous CHIA Pets from the 80s and 90s, but are currently gaining popularity as a health food. These seeds are rich in omega-3 fatty acids, as well as containing fiber, protein, calcium, and antioxidants. These seeds can absorb up to 10 times their weight in water, which can help you feel full and stay hydrated, making them an ideal food for weight management.  Their consumption has been linked to reducing blood pressure and helping diabetics control their blood sugar. They do not need to be ground up like flax seeds, making them more shelf stable. When soaked, they form a gel coating, which makes them great for making puddings and thickening smoothies.
