We have all heard about how much better a plant-based diet is for us. Now, there’s new research to further back up those claims, featuring a comparison of plant-based eating and cardiovascular health.
A scientific study was done to see what the mortality rates were for those eating an animal-based protein diet and a plant-based protein diet to compare what their risks were in association to diet. The study was done with one group of people eating a diet heavy in animal protein, such as meat and eggs. The other group of people ate a plant-based diet rich in nuts, seeds, legumes, and whole grains.
The results showed a staggering percentage of lowered risk for those eating a plant-based diet. It showed that the risk of heart disease and the risk of it becoming fatal were reduced by 54%. These results were purely from the differences in diets.
This is not surprising to those who have already been following a plant-based diet.
Another study showed that a kind of protein found in meat called insulin-like growth factors had the possibility of causing diseases like cardiovascular disease. While the same amount of plant-based protein showed no increased risk of any kind of cardiovascular problems.
These studies show that there is a very obvious health risk to consuming animal-based protein, especially in large amounts. They also demonstrate the amazing benefits of eating a plant-based diet.
The research even shows that less healthy plant-based diets still showed a much lower risk of cardiovascular disease. This is because plant-based protein is healthier by nature – no matter how healthy or unhealthy your diet is.
