According to a statement from The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), both organizations sent letters to seven companies warning them to stop selling products associated with coronavirus cures, treatments and preventative measures.

Seven companies received letters to companies touting colloidal silver, essential oils and other “holistic” treatments for the coronavirus. The FDA and FTC consider these to be dangerous to consumers and pose patient health risks.

“The FDA considers the sale and promotion of fraudulent COVID-19 products to be a threat to the public health. We have an aggressive surveillance program that routinely monitors online sources for health fraud products, especially during a significant public health issue such as this one,” said FDA Commissioner Stephen M. Hahn, M.D. “We understand consumers are concerned about the spread of COVID-19 and urge them to talk to their health care providers, as well as follow advice from other federal agencies about how to prevent the spread of this illness. We will continue to aggressively pursue those that place the public health at risk and hold bad actors accountable.”

Over 115,000 around the world are infected with the virus, as of March 11 and 4,200 people have died from the virus. Scientists believe that the virus started at an exotic animal market in Wuhan, China and was passed from an animal to a human.

You can help stop the incidence of viruses like these by signing this petition to ban the wildlife trade.

You can avoid getting sick by reducing your meat consumption. Eating more plant-based foods is known to help with chronic inflammation, heart health, mental wellbeing, fitness goals, nutritional needs, allergies, gut health and more! Dairy consumption also has been linked to many health problems, including acne, hormonal imbalance, cancer, prostate cancer and has many side effects.
