Fashion trends are keeping up with food market trends. Vegan fashion, like plant-based food, is growing greatly. Animal-derived materials like leather are being replaced by cruelty-free ethical alternatives like wine, pineapple leaves, and banana leaves. Also, in the past year, many big fashion houses have stopped using mohair and fur.
Miley Cyrus, a proud vegan is doing her part to bring vegan fashion to the forefront. She recently collaborated with Converse to release a holiday line of “Converse x Miley.” The line includes 25 new vegan pieces such as sneakers (both high-top and platform), tracksuits, glittery bodysuits, and monogrammed crop-top shirts. The collection is all-vegan, using cruelty-free materials like faux patent leather instead of animal-derived materials like leather made from cow skin.

Vegan fashion is clearly on the rise. Miley Cyrus also wore a vegan leather outfit in London and Vogue, a 125 year old fashion publication which has previously endorsed fur and other animal-derived materials, reported: “Cyrus proves that skipping the authentic materials doesn’t mean sacrificing style. With more and more brands giving up exotic skins and banishing harmful practices in favor of alternatives Miley’s forward-looking outfits are more than a celebrity style moment. They’re a peek at how we’ll all be dressing in the near future.”
