In the United States, over 125,000 people have died from the coronavirus and more than 2.5 million people have been infected. The death rate is more than twice as high as the country with the second-highest death rate, Brazil. And the numbers continue to rise around the country.
There are a few reasons for this high rate of infection and deaths. First, the United States’ initial response to the virus was slow because the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) coronavirus tests failed, which delayed testing. President Trump downplayed the virus in February and continues to downplay the risks to the country. He refuses to wear a mask in public and continues arguing for economic reopening.
But the numbers speak for themselves. Nursing home deaths accounted for about 42% of coronavirus deaths in the country. Over 52,000 deaths related to coronavirus in nursing homes has been reported. This correlates closely with the fact that adults over 65 are most susceptible to coronavirus. 78.9% of all coronavirus deaths are in adults over age 65.
On average, 1,000 people die each day from the coronavirus in the United States. And more Americans have died from the coronavirus than from wars in Vietnam, Korea, Iraq and Afghanistan combined.

Scientists believe that the spread of COVID-19, or coronavirus, started at an exotic animal market in Wuhan, China. You can help stop the incidence of viruses like these by signing this petition to ban the wildlife trade.

This is a good time to reconsider our intake of animal products to stay healthy. Eating more plant-based foods is known to help with chronic inflammation, heart health, mental wellbeing, fitness goals, nutritional needs, allergies, gut health and more! Dairy consumption also has been linked to many health problems, including acne, hormonal imbalance, cancer, prostate cancer and has many side effects.
