Unfortunately, the world is not a very peaceful or safe place for many individuals. From conflict to abuse to exploitation, there is so much cruelty inflicted on both humans and animals. While this can get disheartening and difficult to hear about, petitions are a great way to use your voice for good. Just by signing one, you are a part of helping those who are not treated fairly. You can even share them with your friends and acquaintances to increase your impact.

Through petitions, we can reach those in power and demand justice for others. They are valuable tools for making positive changes in the world. 1. Switzerland Must Ban People from Eating Dog Meat and Cat Meat!

Swiss legislators have banned butchers and restaurants from selling meat harvested from the dead bodies of dogs and cats. But despite this win, private residents are still allowed to harm their family pet if they choose to, and eat its remains. Surprisingly, there aren’t even any regulations in place regarding what manner of slaughter is permitted. While the majority of Swiss residents are opposed to eating dogs and cats, until this horrible act is made illegal, some people can and do still do it. Sign this petition to tell Swiss legislators they must ban cat and dog meat now!

2. Demand Trump Stop Enabling White Nationalist Violence!

Two more members of the white nationalist group Rise Above Movement plead guilty to federal charges of conspiracy to riot at the 2017 “Unite The Right” rally in Charlottesville, Virginia. In April of 2019, Donald Trump defended his notorious comments after the deadly rally in which he claimed there were “very fine people on both sides.” Trump must no longer publicly Support violent white nationalism in this country. Sign this petition to tell Trump and his supporters that hate and radical right-wing violence will not be tolerated any longer!

3. Tell Ryanair That Racism Doesn’t Fly.

77-year-old Delsie Gayle was flying back from holiday with her daughter on Ryanair — the European low-cost airline when the passenger next to her began calling her names. A video of the incident has since gone viral. “Put her to another seat!” the male passenger shouts, before turning to the woman. “I tell you this. If you don’t go to another seat, I’ll put you to another seat!” reported the Washington Post. Instead of escorting the man off the plane, they actually forced the woman to move. This is not ok, and Ryanair needs to change its policy and make it clear that racists are not welcome on their planes. Sign this petition and demand the company change their policy to immediately remove racist aggressors from their flights and report them to the appropriate officials.

4. Put an End To Systemic Racism That is Killing and Making People of Color Sick

Through decades of federal policy enforcing discrimination, American towns and cities have segregated Pollution so that it primarily lives in — and poisons — communities of color. This is largely due to a practice called “redlining,” which describes decades of federal housing policies – policies that explicitly and intentionally discriminated against Black and Latinx Americans and immigrants. A now-defunct government agency called the Home Owners’ Loan Corporation shaded areas of maps red when there were high proportions of immigrants and African-Americans, and made it difficult if not impossible for people of color to secure mortgages to buy homes. This type of racial discrimination labeled neighborhoods with Black and brown residents “undesirable” and ushered in generations of poverty. Sign this petition to demand that the U.S. government begin an immediate and thorough project to clean up the Pollution in segregated, formerly redlined neighborhoods! 5. Eliminate Tax Breaks and Legal Loopholes for Big Oil and Gas!

Each year, billions of American taxpayer dollars go straight to propping up the oil and gas industries. Not only are these companies most responsible for American contribution to Climate change., but they. also benefit from loopholes and laws that allow them to skip over cleaning up the Pollution they create. The IMF found the production and burning of coal, oil, and gas were subsidized by $5.9tn in 2020. Setting fossil fuel prices that reflect their true cost would cut global CO2 emissions by over a third, an IMF analyst said. In order to balance global temperatures, it is absolutely vital that we move away from fossil fuels, and transition to 100% clean energy, instead of adding fuel to the fire. Sign this petition to demand Biden and Congress eliminate subsidies and environmental loopholes for the fossil fuel industry!

6. Demand the Florida Department of Health Recommend All Children Get Vaccinated!

The COVID-19 pandemic has killed nearly one million people living in the United States. As experts have been saying for well over a year now, the best step a person can take to protect themselves and reduce community transmission at this time is to get vaccinated and boosted. However, despite the overwhelming amount of scientific evidence, Florida will be the first state to recommend that healthy children not receive the vaccine. Florida Surgeon General Dr. Joseph Ladapo, announced that the Florida Department of Health will officially recommend against the COVID-19 vaccine for healthy children, says WPTV.. This announcement directly contradicts guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, which currently recommends that everyone ages 5 and older get the coronavirus vaccine. Sign this petition to tell the Florida Department of Health to listen to the science and Support vaccination for all children!

7. The Sexually Abusive OBGYN From USC Must Lose His License

George Tyndall, the former University of Southern California gynecologist, would film pelvic exams and it turned out his office was full of pictures of women’s genitals — and not for any valid medical reason, he was just a creep. Tyndall was charged by the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office with committing 29 criminal felonies while treating student patients at the university health center from 2009 to 2016, according to npr news. he University had been receiving complaints from women for years, but it wasn’t until a concerned nurse went to a rape crisis center that USC finally forced him to resign (with a generous payout). Despite his wildly inappropriate behavior, Tyndall maintains his innocence and denies any wrongdoing. Sign this petition to demand that Tyndall’s medical license and board certifications are revoked immediately for his rampant sexual abuse of patients.

8. Demand Justice for Ashley Heavy Runner Loring

In June of 2017, Ashley Loring HeavyRunner went missing. There was never a BOLA (nationwide) Alert sent out and since that time the investigation has been passed between tribal police, the BIA, and the FBI. To this day, nothing has been done with Ashley’s case. The main suspects have never been questioned by the FBI. The number of unsolved crimes that haunt the community is unacceptable and we must demand a new investigative team for the Ashley Heavy Loring case. We must ensure that a Task Force made up of local citizens, tribal, state, & federal officers remain on call to investigate missing & murdered cases within 24 hours and ensure that undertrained local officers do not botch future investigations. 9. Demand a chance at a better life for Himeko, an elephant in captivity

Himeko the elephant was brought to the Himeji Zoo in 1994. She has been imprisoned there since, totally alone: for 24 long, lonely years. During “business hours” at this noisy zoo and amusement park, Himeko faces away from visitors and copes with her stress by bobbing and swaying nonstop. She also bangs her tail repeatedly against the steel door of her pen. The rest of the time she is trapped in a tiny, dark concrete indoor cell—with no food or water readily available—for 18 hours a day. Sign this petition demanding a chance at a better life for Himeko.

10. Repeal the Texas 6 week abortion ban now!

Tragically, Texas effectively banned abortion starting September 1st, 2021. Bill S.B. 8 bans virtually all abortions after 6 weeks. At 6 weeks, most people do not yet know they are even pregnant. This law will mean more back alley, unsafe abortions, and more forced pregnancies. This is a devastating move that will put vulnerable people in even more danger and leave them with even fewer choices. Sign this petition to tell the Texas Legislature to do what’s right for their people and repeal this law now!
