Just this year alone, the world had seen numerous gruesome mass shootings. In combination with the pandemic, mental health issues have spiked tremendously. Not only do we need more gun safety regulations, but we also need better social-emotional learning programs for kids who have lived through traumatic experiences. Unfortunately, kids, in particular, may not have easy access to mental health resources in school.

Social-emotional learning (SEL) curriculums are essential to help teach young people healthy, safe ways to express themselves and de-escalate intense emotions. Studies show that SEL significantly improves problem-solving, self-regulation, impulse control, and empathy. It also helps improve focus and gives them the knowledge to make good decisions.
