Unfortunately, the world is not a very peaceful or safe place for many individuals. From conflict to abuse to exploitation, there is so much cruelty inflicted on both humans and animals. 1. Urge Mississippi Lawmakers to Help Jackson Residents with Water Crisis

Residents in Jackson, Mississippi have endured plenty of hardship lately. For several months, they’ve been without clean water, having to boil it, and then dealing with a flood on top of that. Many people believe these problems were allowed to happen because of structural racism. After all, the whiter populations outside of the city aren’t experiencing the same problems, and Republicans almost entirely blocked a budget that was set aside this year for water and sewer repairs in Jackson. Please sign this petition to urge lawmakers in Mississippi to help Jackson residents during this water crisis! 

2. Tell Authorities to Investigate Wet Markets in the Bay Area

An undercover investigation of animal wet markets around the San Francisco Bay Area has uncovered shocking cruelty. Animal Outlook, the animal advocacy group that conducted the investigation, found 11 welfare violations at these shops. Footage shows a live turtle being sliced apart and a fish being clubbed to death, among other sadistic acts. Many animals are also stuffed into overcrowded containers. Please sign this petition to demand authorities investigate these businesses and shut them down! 

3. Pressure Congress to Pass Federal Abortion Protections

Senator Lindsey Graham recently introduced a bill that would ban women from having abortions nationally after 15 weeks. Graham has acknowledged that the bill is unlikely to be passed, but is hopeful that his persistence will pay off in the future. The overturning of Roe v. Wade has already caused a tremendous amount of hardship and pain for people across the country. Please sign this petition to put pressure on Congress to pass federal abortion protections! 

4. Ask the Department of Justice to Charge Trump for Inciting Capitol Riot

It’s now been almost two years since a mob of Trump supporters stormed the U.S. capitol in an attempt to overturn what they believed to be faulty election results. Despite several of the people involved being charged, Donald Trump has yet to face any charges for the role he played in inciting the insurrection. We can’t allow his crime to go unpunished simply because it’s unprecedented to prosecute former presidents. Please sign this petition to ask the Department of Justice to finally charge Trump! 

5. Demand the USDA Finally Shut Down SeaWorld

An orca named Corky recently endured a brutal attack from another whale at SeaWorld. These types of incidents are rare in the wild but far more likely in Seaworld’s tanks because the animals are stressed and aren’t able to swim away from each other. So, on top of being imprisoned in captivity for 50 years, Corky is nursing a serious physical wound. In the ocean, orcas swim 40 miles per day and can socialize and hunt for their food. The water prisons at SeaWorld rob them of everything important in their lives. Please sign this petition to demand the USDA finally shut down this sadistic prison and send all orcas to seaside sanctuaries! 

6. Pledge You Will Get the New COVID Booster Shot

Although it may seem like the pandemic is over, hundreds of Americans are still dying every day from COVID-19. Luckily, the FDA and CDC have approved a new booster shot that specifically protects people against the Omicron variants. Vaccines help people both from catching the virus and spreading it, not to mention the death rate of unvaccinated people is much higher than those who are vaccinated. Please sign this petition to pledge that you will get the new booster shot! 

7. Urge Congress to Implement a Federal Parental Leave Program

Just eleven states and 25% of employers provide family leave programs in the United States. On top of that, only around 5% of the lowest-income workers have access to these programs. Taking care of a baby is a full-time job in itself, but having to work too makes what should be a beautiful and amazing experience, extremely stressful and exhausting. Please sign this petition to urge Congress to implement a federal parental leave program! 

8. Demand Clemency for Rape Victim Who Killed Her Rapist

Pieper Lewis escaped her abusive mother when she was 15 and was taken by a man who forced her to have sex with other men. A couple of years ago, Pieper was forced to have sex with a man who had raped her several times before. He raped her again, and when she woke up, she stabbed him. Lewis is now 17 and has been sentenced to five years of supervised probation and was ordered to $150,000 to the family of the man she killed. Please sign this petition to demand that the Governor of Iowa grant Pieper Lewis clemency! 

9. Pressure Ecuadorian Authorities to Find Tortoise-Poachers

The Galapagos islands have over 2,000 species that can’t be found anywhere else in the world. Several of those species are giant tortoises, many of which are on the brink of extinction or are already extinct.  Recently, four endangered turtle carcasses were found, likely murdered for their meat. Though this is illegal, poaching wildlife like this is not uncommon. Please sign this petition to pressure Ecuadorian authorities to find and prosecute the criminals responsible for this! 

10. Make Sure this Animal Abuser is Never Allowed Near Animals Again

The Humane Society recently rescued 26 animals who were in terrible shape from a Missouri home. The animals were stressed, overheated, malnourished, flea-infested, and living in an “unsanitary” and “unsafe” environment. On top of this, there were several dead animal corpses littered around the property. Please sign this petition to demand that the animal abusers responsible for this never be allowed near animals again!
