Help keep One Green Planet free and independent! Together we can ensure our platform remains a hub for empowering ideas committed to fighting for a sustainable, healthy, and compassionate world. Please support us in keeping our mission strong.
Unfortunately, the world is not a very peaceful or safe place for many individuals. From conflict to abuse to exploitation, there is so much cruelty inflicted on both humans and animals. While this can get disheartening and difficult to hear about, petitions are a great way to use your voice for good. Just by signing one, you are a part of helping those who are not treated fairly. You can even share them with your friends and acquaintances to increase your impact.
Through petitions, we can reach those in power and demand justice for others. They are valuable tools for making positive changes in the world. If you are looking for a way to help animals and humans, here are 10 petitions you should sign this week, including Help End Elephant Riding in Thailand, Help Ban Rodeos in Arizona, Ask Nebraska to Protect Bald Eagles from Hunters, and More!
We want to thank you for being the change you wish to see in the world and giving a voice to the voiceless.
1. Ask the U.S. Government to Not Ban TikTok
Source: Insider News/YouTube
The U.S. Government is moving forward with plans to ban the popular social media site TikTok because of alleged fears about data privacy. But instead of banning this platform where people share important ideas, express themselves, and users can connect with people around the world, the government could instead just legislate data privacy laws. Banning TikTok will only take away the voices of marginalized groups, create a less politically educated population, and stifle freedom of speech. Please sign this petition to urge the U.S. Government to not ban TikTok!

2. Help End Elephant Riding in Thailand

Elephant riding is a popular tourist experience in Thailand but it leads to immense suffering for the elephants involved. The elephants spend hours every day carrying their handler, tourists, and a heavy seat on their backs. After years of enduring these rides, their backs become sunken and deformed. On top of this, they also endure other abuses by their handlers. Please sign this petition to urge Thailand to end elephant riding once and for all!

3. Help Ban Rodeos in Arizona

Rodeos exist to entertain humans and yet the animals involved suffer tremendously. They are routinely poked with electric prods and spurs, are thrown to the ground, dragged, have their necks yanked and twisted, and experience a myriad of other torments, all for some cheers from a crowd. Animals are not here to entertain us. Please sign this petition to demand Arizona ban rodeos once and for all!

4. Pressure Authorities to Replace Zoo Animals with VR Experiences
Source: KFOR Oklahoma’s News 4/YouTube
The Oklahoma City Zoo recently partnered with a VR company and opened an exhibit that will allow visitors to walk through the forests of Rwanda and see mountain gorillas virtually. This kind of technology could potentially be a game-changer in that it could reduce the number of imprisoned animals in zoos. There is a lot of research that has shown that animals suffer greatly in zoos. Please sign this petition to pressure the USDA Animal & Plant Health Inspection Service to fund zoos that use this technology!

5. Urge Congress to Pass Legislation That Will Protect the Right to Abortion Medication
Source: MSNBC/YouTube
The governor of Wyoming recently signed a bill that would make abortion pills illegal in the state. Luckily, a few days later, a judge decided to suspend the ban for at least two weeks, ruling that the ban violates the state constitution. However, Republican-controlled states will likely keep attempting to pass similar legislation. Please sign this petition to urge Congress to pass legislation that will give people the right to abortion medication!

6. Demand Marineland Transfer Its Whales and Dolphins to Sanctuaries Immediately
Source: CHCH News/YouTube
In early March, an orca named Kiska passed away from a bacterial infection at Marineland in Canada. The whale, known as “the world’s loneliest orca”, spent more than four decades at Marineland and the last 12 years in complete isolation. Her story helped inspire activists to help pass a bill in Canada that bans people from breeding and keeping whales, dolphins, and porpoises in captivity. However, it’s been reported that many dolphins and whales are still being held captive at Marineland. Please sign this petition to demand Marineland transfer these marine animals to sanctuaries immediately!

7. Ask Nebraska to Help Protect Bald Eagles from Hunters
Source: 1011 NOW/YouTube
In Nebraska, two men were out hunting for birds and shot a bald eagle. The men seemed unaware that these animals were in the area and that they are protected under federal law. It was even their intention to “eat the bird later” when they were questioned by authorities. More people in the area are likely unaware that these birds are protected and that they are nesting in the area. Please sign this petition to urge the Nebraska Game and Park Commission to protect these majestic birds!

8. Urge Pittsburgh to Support Its Immigrant Population
About five years ago, 10% of the citizens in Pittsburgh were immigrants. These people are often valuable members of their community who work very hard, yet many of them are unaware of the resources that are available to them. Research has shown that programs that specifically help immigrants can greatly impact their lives. Please sign this petition to urge the Pittsburgh City Council to create initiatives and education programs to help improve the lives of its immigrant population!

9. Tell Ford Motor Company to Drop Its Dangerous Automated Repossession Proposal
Source: FOX 2 Detroit/YouTube
Last year, the Ford Motor Company applied for a patent that would allow them to program their cars to drive away from people who are late with their car payments. This could potentially be very dangerous as the cars may be able to drive off with children, animal companions, or important possessions. On top of that, Ford is also proposing a way to make the driving experience unpleasant for the driver before the car is taken away, which could include the car locking its windows and making loud noises. Please sign this petition to urge Ford to dump this dangerous proposal!

10. Tell Authorities to Charge Man for Killing, Skinning, and Beheading Dogs
Source: FOX 5 New York/YouTube
A man in Connecticut has come under fire for shooting and killing two German Shepherds with a crossbow, skinning them, and beheading them. The family to whom the dogs belonged had been looking for their dogs for weeks and were understandably horrified when they discovered what had happened to them. The man who murdered the dogs said that he thought they were coyotes, as sadly murdering coyotes is perfectly legal in Connecticut, but it’s hard to understand how he didn’t see they were dogs before skinning them and chopping their heads off. Please sign this petition to demand authorities charge this man with animal cruelty and revoke his hunting license!
