Unfortunately, the world is not a very peaceful or safe place for many individuals. From conflict to abuse to exploitation, there is so much cruelty inflicted on both humans and animals. While this can get disheartening and difficult to hear about, petitions are a great way to use your voice for good. Just by signing one, you are a part of helping those who are not treated fairly. You can even share them with your friends and acquaintances to increase your impact.

Through petitions, we can reach those in power and demand justice for others. They are valuable tools for making positive changes in the world. If you are looking for a way to help animals and humans, here are 10 petitions you should sign this week, including Tell Biden to Investigate Iran for Crimes Against Women, Protect Indigenous Lands in Brazil, and Demand Justice For Llama That Was Beaten to Death!

Raise awareness while making a fashion statement by wearing sustainable brands like Tiny Rescue. Check out the Climate Change Collection!

We want to thank you for being the change you wish to see in the world and giving a voice to the voiceless.

1. Demand Justice For Llama That Was Beaten to Death

Source: WJZ/Youtube

A woman in Maryland woke up one morning to find her worst nightmare. During the night, someone had horrifically beat up one of her beloved llamas, a 22-year-old male named Skippy. The woman had adopted Skippy as a rescue when he was four years old. He spent the rest of 18 years of his life living with two other llamas and two alpacas with whom he formed friendships over the years.

When the woman realized how much pain Skippy was in, she took him to the local veterinarian. She discovered that someone had shattered Skippy’s leg bones, most likely through beating, because there were no external wounds. Skippy’s injuries were so severe that the vet had no choice but to euthanize him. The other llamas and alpacas were not hurt, although they are surely traumatized. The Maryland police are investigating, but we need to make sure that they continue!

Sign this petition to demand that authorities find whoever abused this poor llama to death!

2. Make Sure These Animal Abusers Can’t Ever Hurt Another Animal

Source: 8 News NOW Las Vegas/Youtube

At least 325 dogs were found and seized from a property in Nevada due to horrible living conditions, abuse, and neglect. The couple involved has been charged with felony animal abuse and neglect. According to local officials, the animals were described as fighting “literally life or death to eat.” Many of the dogs were fighting and attacking each other because of a lack of food or water. Some had abscesses and infections and some were even missing legs.

It is unclear how they had so many animals and were able to abuse them for so long but these people should not be allowed to have animals ever again.

Sign this petition to tell Nye County District Attorney to charge the abusers and make sure they can’t own any animals again!

3. Investigate Dr. Oz for Medical Scams

Source: Vox/Youtube

Dr. Oz is no stranger to medical scandals and shams. He is known for scamming the public and pushing false “newest, fastest fat-buster” type treatments. While he is technically a physician, it is clear that he continuously chooses fame and money over actually doing what is right.

A new Health News Review’s analysis of Dr. Oz’s statements on TV found that 78 percent of them were not in line with “evidence-based medical guidelines.” To make matters worse, he is even attempting to enter politics now!

Sign this petition to demand an immediate investigation into Dr. Oz!

4. Suspend Environment Harming Cattle Ranching on U.S. Public Lands and National Parks

Source: Earthling Ed/Youtube

Meat production is destroying the environment, and billions of animals are dying. A new study found that cattle ranching is destroying the planet too. The study examined the Point Reyes National Seashore and confirmed that water pollution is occurring in the protected area due to ranchers. One-third of the National Park Service’s land at Point Reyes is leased to ranchers which makes up around 28,000 total acres. An average of 5,000 cattle graze this land. All of this ranching would not be happening without the meat and dairy industry.

Grazing has been proven to harm ecosystems, endanger native species, cause desertification, and pollute water. Many parks around the country have cut back on cattle grazing because of this, but they have not at Point Reyes. Private ranching on this land is government subsidized, which means that the government is willingly and knowingly polluting our water.

Sign this petition to tell the U.S. Forest Service and U.S. Bureau of Land Management to immediately suspend all cattle ranching on public lands and in national parks!

5. Strengthen Animal Cruelty Laws in North Carolina

Source: VoteVaughan/Youtube

In 2009, Susie, a beloved pitbull mix, was found in a park in North Carolina covered in maggots, and horrifically beaten and burned. After she was examined by local veterinarians, they discovered that she had been left in that condition for weeks. She was missing teeth, burned, and her jaw was broken. Susie went on to help pass North Carolina legislation that increased the penalties for animal cruelty. She even won the Hero Dog Award from the Humane Society. Unfortunately, Susie recently passed away.

North Carolina is ranked incredibly low for states with good animal protection. North Carolina needs to take steps to increase animal welfare in Susie’s honor! The legislature can add things to Susie’s Law to achieve this, including adding mental health evaluation or treatment for abusers as well as a ban on animal ownership for people convicted of felony animal cruelty.

Sign this petition to tell North Carolina legislators to increase animal welfare in the state and fight against animal cruelty in Susie’s honor!

6. Tell Biden to Investigate Iran for Crimes Against Women

Source: NowThis News/Youtube

Brave women in Iran have taken to the streets and are burning their hijabs to protest the suspected murder of Mahsa Amini. Mahsa Amini was arrested by the Iranian “morality police” for not wearing her hijab correctly and she later died in their custody.  Iranian president Ebrahim Raisi and Iran’s chief justice, Mohseni Ejei, have promised a full investigation but given the conservatives on the ruling Guardian Council, they likely can’t be trusted to do so. The United Nations has called for an independent investigation into Amini’s death, and President Biden should too!

Sign this petition to tell President Biden to open a full investigation into Iran’s crimes against women!

7. Protect The Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA) and Save Native Children

Source: Native American Rights Fund/Youtube

The Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA) protects Native kids in child welfare proceedings and ensures that they are not removed from their families unless it is necessary for the child’s safety. When removal is necessary, ICWA helps place children with extended family, or with members of the child’s tribe, or other Native families.

The assimilation of Native peoples in the United States has always targeted children. Over 40 years ago, the ICWA was created to help stop the harm caused by Native children being separated from their families and tribal communities. On November 9th, the law that protects these children from being removed from their homes and families will be challenged before the Supreme Court of the United States.

To learn more and educate yourself on the history of harm Native families have experienced in the U.S., please visit Protect ICWA.

Sign this petition to support the ICWA and ensure that it remains able to protect Native children in the United States!

8. Find Man Who Beat A Dog on Camera and Charge Him with Animal Abuse

Source: ABC7/Youtube

A man was caught on a security camera inside a California apartment complex abusing and beating up a dog. The video shows the dog quietly waiting by a door inside the building, waiting to be let out. The man charges the dog, and the dog lowers their ears and tries to run away from the man. However, the man lunges at the dog, grabs the animal, and punches the poor dog in the head.

The man continued to beat and kick the dog as the dog tried to get away, but the man continued to hit him. Police have not been able to find this animal abuser, and the dog could still be with him. Officials must find this man soon and make sure the animal is seized and removed from his custody.

Sign this petition to demand California authorities find and charge this man with animal abuse and ban him from owning any animals again!

9. Tell Mississippi to End Blatantly Racist Voting Restrictions

Source: MSNBC/Youtube

Recently, a Mississippi Appeals Court purposefully decided to keep a racist, Jim Crow-era voting restriction in the state’s constitution. The restriction keeps people that are convicted of felonies from being allowed to exercise their right to vote along with the rest of the state.

This law has racist and white supremacist origins. The law was first introduced in 1890 and was placed to make sure that Black people in the South did not get all of the gains of the Civil War and Reconstruction. The ruling explicitly noted that they created the restriction to punish those who were convicted of “black crimes” while white criminals were allowed to keep their voting power.

Sign this petition to demand Mississippi lawmakers pass a new law to allow people to have the right to vote!

10. Protect Indigenous Lands in Brazil

Source: Al Jazeera English/Youtube

The last member of an Indigenous tribe in Brazil has died. His death has shined a light on the decades of genocide by colonists and the Brazilian government. The man was nicknamed the ‘Man of the Hole’ because he survived for decades in isolation, evaded contact, and protected himself from threats to the tribal land in the country.

Although little is known about the man, human rights organizations believe that the rest of his tribe was brutally murdered in attacks by gunmen in the 1970s. They believe that colonists and ranchers hired people to slaughter the Indigenous people to take the land.

With the man’s death, a whole language and culture have been lost, and Brazil needs to do better. Many tribes have resisted forces for all these years, but it is time that the Brazilian government takes steps to protect them.

Sign this petition to demand Brazil permanently preserves Indigenous lands!
