Unfortunately, the world is not a very peaceful or safe place for many individuals. From conflict to abuse, to exploitation, there is so much cruelty inflicted on both humans and animals. While this can get disheartening and difficult to hear about, petitions are a great way to use your voice for good. Just by signing one, you are a part of helping those who are not treated fairly. You can even share them with your friends and acquaintances to increase your impact.

Through petitions, we can reach those in power and demand justice for others. They are valuable tools for making positive changes in the world. 1. Investigate Olympic Gold Medallist Caught Beating a Horse

In mid-February, a man famous for his horse-riding and horse-training skills was caught beating a horse because it disobeyed him. This man’s name is Sir Mark Todd was a professional equestrian rider for about 20 years, and earned two Olympic gold medals. Several years into his retirement from riding, he still rides horses and is even a trainer. He and his wife breed horses, and he owns a fancy training facility in the UK. This video evidence shows a man who appears to be Sir Mark using a branch to repeatedly whip a horse when it refused to cross the water in its path. Sir Mark has confirmed that he was the man in the sad video. In the footage, he seems to be frustrated and angry at the animal’s defiance and, thought that violence would be the answer. Sign this petition to demand authorities investigate this incident! They must also ensure that all horses trained at Sir Mark’s facilities are safe and well-treated.

2. Tell Grocery Stores to Stop Selling Abusive Plainville Farms Products

It’s no secret that many turkey farms rely on conditions that are unsafe, cruel, and unhealthy for these animals. However, recently released footage shows something even more horrific. The video showed workers beating, kicking, and stamping turkeys at Plainville Farms suppliers. You can even see employees grabbing turkeys by the head and neck, using their fragile body parts to fling them through the air. These incredibly sad videos are examples of the degrading, terrifying violence that turkeys go through at Plainville Farms. From the day that they’re born, their freedom and wellbeing are stripped from them. The company claims that it has always committed itself to the “highest standards of animal welfare,” but these horrible videos have exposed the reality: that animal welfare isn’t their priority at all, only profits. Sign this petition to demand that Publix, Wegmans, and Harris Teeter drop their suppliers that allow animal abuse!

3. Hold This Influencer Responsible For Tattooing Her Cat

In 2017, a Ukrainian fitness model had cruelly tattooed her hairless Sphynx cat. Many worried animal activists urged Instagram to deplatform her for animal abuse and they still haven’t done it. Now, she has resurfaced and is posting pictures of the tattooed animal again. She has blocked the Care2 Instagram account, which was pressuring her to remove these awful images and videos. Tattoos are painful for adults, so you can imagine how scary and painful they are for animals. At least when humans get tattoos, they are consenting to put art on their bodies and they are instructed on how to keep the wound — and that is what a tattoo is — clean during the healing process. With animals and cats in this instance, they are voiceless and cannot consent to this painful cosmetic action. This woman is risking this poor sphynx’s health all for media attention. The cat now has a massive tattoo across its chest! The abuse is done now, but she doesn’t think what she did was wrong, so who is to say she won’t tattoo Yasha or another innocent animal again? Even worse, her account could be influencing other people to imitate this dangerous and cruel behavior. Sign this petition to demand Instagram deplatform this animal abuser now.

4. Tell British Police To Ban Guns For Domestic Abusers

It seems obvious that people who have been terrorizing their partners or families at home should not have deadly weapons at their immediate disposal. But apparently, British police think otherwise. According to the organization Women’s Aid, they had found “countless instances” of law enforcement officials simply “shrugging off domestic abuse as a less serious offense.” Data that has been released revealed that six months after a man with a violent history shot dead five people in Plymouth shortly after police gave him his gun back. As Farah Nazeer, the chief executive of Women’s Aid correctly notes: “Even if the perpetrator hasn’t ever used the gun against their partner, just possessing the weapon, its presence in the house, is a form of intimidation and control.” Sign this petition to demand that the UK ban domestic abusers from possessing guns or gun licenses!

5. Protect the American people from unsafe and sickening foods!

It all started with Trump’s determination that meat-processing facilities had to stay open, even though outbreaks of the deadly coronavirus were running rampant through these plants, infecting record numbers of workers who were handling our dinner foods. But it didn’t end there. He’s since forced governmental agencies to halt protections for meat-packing workers, reduced standards for facility inspections, loosened enforcement of environmental Pollution laws for factory farms, and more. Then, in July 2020, the USDA decided to grant poultry facilities the right to turn diseased chickens… into meat for human consumption. Sign this petition to demand that the U.S. Department of Agriculture do its job to protect the American people from unsafe and sickening foods. It must shut down the use of diseased birds to become dinner meats!

6. Speak out for humanitarian rights, justice, and Ukraine!

On Thursday, February 24, Russian forces initiated blatant acts of war against the sovereign nation of Ukraine. Putin has violated international law and multiple ceasefires in pursuing these attacks and invasions. Ukraine is a democratic state of 44 million people, and Russia’s invasion marks the biggest attack on a European State since World War Two. Many have been fleeing the capital, Kyiv, by car, but the roads have been filled with traffic for miles. Many are seeking refuge in local subway stations as explosions and gunfire were heard throughout the city and the rest of the country. No matter what Putin’s desires are, there is no excuse to bomb people. Sign the petition to send a loud signal that you stand with Ukraine! The people of Ukraine should not have to fear for their lives. As an international community, we must gather together to loudly oppose the Russian government’s violent attacks in Ukraine. 7. Help save the prairie before it’s erased permanently!

the midwestern prairies in Illinois are extremely crucial to the environment and many species of wildlife — but it’s under attack. And one of the very last parcels of this rich land is about to be destroyed by an airport just outside Chicago. The airport is planning to raze a huge area that’s about 280-acres large to expand its operations. Within this 280 acres is a small, rare patch of prairie that’s just five acres big — and it’s set to be swept up in the demolition, too. Known as the Bell Bowl Prairie, it’s thousands of years old, and still retains the imprint left by the continent’s last glaciers when they retreated upwards of 8,000 years ago. 8. Demand That the Wealthiest Pay Their Fair Share in Taxes

ProPublica recently gained access to a significant amount of U.S. tax information. In that trove of information, they learned that billionaires do not pay much income tax relative to their enormous wealth. The records show that Jeff Bezos, Elon Musk, Michael Bloomberg, and George Soros have all gotten away with paying $0 in federal income taxes in some years. There has been a long-running myth that the wealthiest Americans pay the most taxes. It turns out it’s not even kind of true. Experts have known this a long time, while the rest of us just suspected. Now we know. Sign this petition to demand a change in the tax code to make sure the wealthiest pay their fair share!

9. Give Animal Activists Back Their Political Voices and Freedoms

A law in New South Wales, Australia called The Surveillance Devices Act 2007 is trialing a blanket ban that prohibits filming or recording on private property and in turn preventing the filming of Animal rights abuses taken while on private property and the publishing of private conversations. We must act now and urge the New South Wales government to revise this act and give people back the freedom to report animal abuses and show media footage without being criminalized for it! If this law continues as is, farm animals behind closed doors are at risk of abuse and will lose some of the only advocates and protectors they have – whistleblowers who gather evidence of the cruelties committed against them. 10. Free Finlay, a Scottish Wildcat Kitten From the North Wales Police

Finlay was found as an orphan at just 3 weeks of age. He was found in the Highlands of Scotland, close to death, dehydrated, hypothermic, and malnourished. He was given intensive emergency care and a vet check. Even at this early age, he showed clear diagnostic Scottish wildcat coat markings and so he was handed over to us at Wildcat Haven so that he could undergo rehabilitation under the expert care of their team. On the 14th February 2022 everything changed. A team of 4 police officers without any warrant, or paperwork, and without any prior discussion, arrived at the location of his rehabilitation enclosure and seized him. Such disruption at this crucial stage will be catastrophic to his rehabilitation. Sign this petition to raise awareness of this issue and hopefully hasten his return.
