Global cases of coronavirus passed 10 million on June 28. Over 499,000 people have been killed around the world.

Many countries that have reopened, like Germany, are now seeing a new wave in cases after handling the first round of infections fairly effectively. Health officials warn that waves of the coronavirus will continue until a vaccine is created.

The United States has the most confirmed cases and deaths worldwide, with over 2.5 million cases and over 125,000 deaths. Texas and Arizona reported large spikes in the virus counts in the past two weeks and now only two US states are reporting a decline in cases, Connecticut and Rhode Island.

The United States still hasn’t made mask-wearing a federal mandate, rather its a state by state ruling. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said a mandate is ” long overdue.” The United States broke another record on June 26 with its highest recorded number of new cases in a single day.
