A Black Lives Matter activist was hospitalized after a Tampa police officer was seen on video kneeling on her neck.

On Wednesday night, Jae Passmore was leaving a Black Lives Matter demonstration in downtown Tampa when she was detained by the police.

In an Instagram video, Passmore was pinned to the ground by several officers as protesters scream to “get off her neck” and “get off of her like that.” Witnesses say the police officers emerged from unmarked vehicles and pulled Passmore to the ground.

Passmore’s attorney Gretchen Cothron told Newsweek that Passmore was being treated at a local hospital. Cothron added that the incident is “especially horrendous” since Passmore is still recovering from injuries after a pickup truck driver drove into her during a protest on June 21.

Passmore has been at the forefront at Black Lives Matter protests in Tampa in the months following the death of George Floyd, who was killed after a Minneapolis police officer knelt on his neck for more than eight minutes.

Many other videos have caught police officers kneeling on people’s necks across the country including Sarasota, FL.San Antonio, TX., and Allentown, PA.
