A Black woman is applauding Delta Air Lines for taking a stand against racism after she was harassed by a white passenger on a recent flight.

Demetria Poe was traveling from Minneapolis to Washington, D.C. to a civil rights rally when a white female passenger swapped her initial mask to wear a Blue Lives Matter face mask.

The white woman instigated a conversation with Poe by saying, “I Support blue lives because I Support our officers” according to Facebook post from Poe.

“That woman was trying to entice me into an argument because there was no need for her to flip that mask in my presence,” Poe told USA Today. “She didn’t do it for anyone else. It was as if she was making a statement and wanted me to know.”

“Us saying black lives matter don’t mean all other lives don’t matter,” Poe continued. “We are saying if all lives matter, ‘Why is it justifiable for anyone to slaughter Black people?’ “

The woman also said statements like “Africans from the west sold the most slaves” and “Having Blacks in America has been the best thing for them because they can work they way up.”

While Poe didn’t engage with the woman, other passengers spoke up to defend Poe and flight attendants offered to move the woman’s seat.

“I felt the genuine and sincere concern the flight attendants had for me and the people around me,” Poe said in her statement to USA Today. “I was shocked. I was happy, but I was still fearful. Living in Minnesota, I have seen how things get blown up. I just really wanted to get off the flight.”

Delta Air Lines upgraded Poe’s seat on her return flight back to Minneapolis and gave her a gift bag filled that included a Black Lives Matter pin engraved with Delta Air Line’s logo.

“I said all this to say that it’s time and situations like these were these companies need to take a stance! This furthers why I will only fly Delta Air Lines! At this point make me an ambassador Delta. I just thank God that this didn’t flip onto me because too many cases Black people are guilty until proven innocent,” Poe concluded in her post.
