The Fashion Pact is an initiative that is composed of 75 CEOs from the world’s leading fashion brands working together to transform the fashion industry across three pillars: Climate, Biodiversity, and Oceans.

The initiative’s goal is to transform the fashion and textile industry by solving complex environmental challenges across climate, biodiversity, and oceans.

The initiative announced the launch of a ‘Collective Virtual Power Purchase Agreement’ (CVPPA) aimed to accelerate renewable electricity adoption by investing in new clean energy infrastructure. They will begin in Europe and go from there.

“Scaling positive impact in our industry requires group action and breakthrough innovation. Partnering with The Fashion Pact on initiatives like the CVPPA demonstrates how working together can effect meaningful change,” Patrice Louvet, President and CEO of Ralph Lauren, said.

The Fashion Pact was first formed at the G7 Summit in France and is now the largest CEO-led initiative for sustainability in the fashion and textile industry. In just two years, the number of CEOS that have signed on has more than doubled. With over 200 brands, the collective now represents approximately a third of the fashion and textile industry by volume.

The Fashion Pact has now created the CVPPA initiative in partnership with the energy and technical consultancy firms Guidehouse and 2050. 12 CEOs have committed to procuring renewable electricity that is aligned with the 2030 targets to use 100 percent renewable energy across company operations.

The Fashion Pact plans to keep working on future programs to expand its reach in the fashion industry and reduce supply chain greenhouse gas emissions.

It is essential to support sustainable brands like Tiny Rescue, a cause-based, woman and minority-owned sustainable fashion line breaking the mold by participating in a circular economy that is designed for products to be returned, reprocessed, respun, and remade over and over again. We need to preserve our planet! 13 million tons of clothes end up in our landfills, and fast fashion has changed the way that we think about clothes. It’s always best to recycle clothes and go to second-hand or thrift stores when looking for new clothing. The recent boom in secondhand clothing is reducing fashion’s impact on the planet and showing that secondhand shoppers are eco-conscious and savvy, not just “hipsters”!
