Sandy McElhaney, Sea Shepherd Conservation Society

profile-pic

Sandy McElhaney holds a Masters in Community Counseling from the University of Maryland. After graduation she served for over a decade on the staff of the National Mental Health Association as Director of Prevention and then Director of Grants & Foundation Relations. She has been an avid supporter of Sea Shepherd since 2008. In 2012, her Examiner series about the lethal removal of sea lions from the Columbia River for the “crime” of eating salmon helped lead to the development of the Sea Shepherd Dam Guardian Campaign. McElhaney served as one of the leaders of that Campaign in 2013. Today, she is the Grants Administrator for Sea Shepherd Conservation Society USA, marrying her extensive background in writing, non-profit program development and fundraising with her great love of the oceans and conserving marine wildlife.
