Police are investigating a teenager in Italy who played “keepie uppie” with a live hedgehog until it died. In the video, the teen is shown kicking the animal up and down repeatedly.
The video was filmed in the north of Italy in Piedmont. Friends laugh as the kid kicks the hedgehog repeatedly until it falls flat on the ground. The group reportedly then left the animal on railroad tracks to be run over.
The Italian League for Animal Rights reported the video to the authorities. The group also found the hedgehog and buried it properly. A spokesperson for Italian League for Animal Rights said, “These little monsters grow up without responsibility, without feelings, without awareness, without future.”

Police are investigating using CCTV footage and social media to identify the teens responsibly. This is just one episode of many where social media shows people being cruel to animals.
TikTok, the popular platform, has been called out for its lack of animal rights protections and consequences. A woman from Idaho was filmed on Snapchat boxing with her dog. The video drew complaints to local police and animal rights groups.
