It’s horrible to hear about animal abuse cases or read the ways humans are endangering many species. Fortunately, there are things we can do to speak for them. One of the ways we can help and lend our voices to good causes is by signing petitions. Such petitions are sent to people in powerful positions that can make a change, especially when they see just how many people stand behind the cause. We can demand change, justice, and stop tragedies by speaking up and doing our part.
There are horrifying things happening around the world every week like extinction, hunting, exploitation, and cruelty. If you are looking for a way to help animals, here are 10 petitions you should sign this week, including demanding justice for abused dogs and cats, banning foie gras in the EU, saving hermit crabs from plastic Pollution, and more!
We want to thank you for being the change you wish to see in the world and giving a voice to the voiceless.

2. Sloth Yoga Exploits Animals for Profit!

Source: This Tourist Attraction is Using These Poor Sloths to Make a Buck
Studies have shown that sloths actually experience abnormal blood pressure reactions when they come in contact with humans. A Brazilian study observed their circadian rhythm and found “sensitivity of these species to the presence of humans.” Yet people still exploit these innocent animals for profit. Tourist attractions, Wild Florida and Alligator Attraction, sell tickets to “sloth yoga” classes. They also encourage visitors to touch the sloths, feed them, and take photos with the sloths (“slothies”). This is not a safe and comfortable environment for sloths, especially not Hoffman’s two-toed sloths, who are naturally solitary and predominantly nocturnal. Sign this petition urging these tourist attractions to stop exploiting sloths!

3. Ask the EU to Ban Foie Gras!

Source: Stop force-feeding ducks and geese! Demand that the EU changes this regulation regarding foie gras!
The EU has banned the practice of force-feeding in almost all the Member States, but made exceptions for France, the first producer of foie gras in the world, Hungary, Bulgaria, Belgium and Spain. Only livers with a weight of or more than 300g for ducks and 400g for geese can be recognized as “foie gras.” That is impossible to reach naturally. The animals are cruelly force fed. Sign this petition urging the EU to change their mind and ban this horrible practice!

4. Ban Use of Plastic in Feed for Animals in Agriculture

Source: In the United Kingdom, Farmers Can Legally Feed Their Animals Plastic
In the U.K. up to 0.15% of plastic is allowed to go into feed for animals in the animal agriculture industry. This means that people that eat meat are eating plastic. But cows shouldn’t be fed plastic at all, despite what it does to humans. Animals suffer enough for the animal agriculture industry. Sign this petition to demand that the Food Standards Agency ban the use of any plastic in feed for animals.

5. Protect Native Animals on Islands Covered in Plastic

Source: These Islands Are Covered in Plastic, and It’s Killing Native Animals by the Thousands
A study found that hermit crabs are dying on the islands of Cocos and Henderson. There is so much plastic that they confuse them for shells. Plastic bottles were often tilted with the spout upwards so that if a crab made its way into the bottle, it wouldn’t be able to get out. One to two dead crabs were found per square meter were being killed by plastic trash. According to the study, there are 414 million pieces of plastic on the beaches of the Cocos, and 38 million more pieces litter the beaches of Henderson Island. Sign this petition to demand immediate clean up on the plastic infested islands of Cocos and Henderson.

6. Shut Down Ohio Safari Attraction After Fire in Dangerously Heated Barns

Source: After Its Animals Burned Alive in the Night, This Safari Attraction Must Be Shut Down!
At the end of November, a devastating fire broke out at the African Safari Wildlife Park in Ohio. Ten animals were burned alive. Before the fire, there was a power flicker at the property and they even briefly lost electricity the day before. The wild African animals do not belong in that environment. An entertainment park in Ohio could never replicate their natural habitat. Yet, in an effort to do just that, they were keeping the animals in a heated structure, where the power flicker and fire eventually occurred. This is clearly an unsafe environment for animals, and completely unnatural. Sign this petition to demand that they close down and allow the remaining animals to live the rest of their lives at sanctuaries!

7. Justice for Dog Cruelly Abandoned!

Source: This Sweet Dog Chased His Owner’s Car After Being Abandoned and Left for Dead
A man was caught abandoning his dog by a lake and driving away while the sweet pup chased after him. The man kicked and shoved the black dog after getting him out of the car. The poor dog was still wagging his tail and trying to play with his owner despite being pushed aside. Finally, the man drives away and the dog chases behind his car while he yelled “it’s your dog not mine” to the person filming him. If someone can no longer care for an animal, that’s what shelters are for. Kern County Animal Services has opened an investigation into the incident, but you can sign this petition to demand that the case be taken seriously and the man to be caught and held accountable for his abuse!

Milo was a beloved family cat in Kuwait, who was horribly beaten to death by a neighbor because of a minor disagreement with the family. His body was tossed in the street to be found by his family, who rescued him as a kitten. Animal abuse is not considered a crime in Kuwait, so this man was able to get away with this horrific act of animal cruelty. Sign this petition to demand change!

9. Ask TV/Radio Stations to Include Animal Alert Advisories During Severe Weather!

Source: Make Animal Alert Advisories MANDATORY For TV/Radio Stations During Severe Weather!
The television show The Price is Right is remembered by animal lovers because of Bob Barker’s announcement reminding people to spay and neuter their pets to decrease the homeless pet population. Reminders like this leave the viewer or listener with an important message that they’ll always remember. There should be alert advisories during severe weather. Weather reports don’t really mention pets, or at least not every time. But many people don’t know that they should bring their pets inside during very cold or hot weather. This could be helpful in protecting pets! Sign this petition if you are in Support of this idea!
