A video showing wistful dolphins has gone viral on Twitter. The now-removed tweet showed the below video, where dolphins look wistfully at squirrels while they are trapped in a tank that’s too small for them!

In the video, the dolphins watch the squirrels and follow their every move. The video has since been removed by the user @NatureIsLit.

Keeping dolphins in such small tanks is inhumane. Many twitter replies commented on the animal cruelty, including statements like “How is this Welcome to Nature? The Dolphins are in a pool…set them free,” from @kaitlinjmartin and “The dolphins realize the squirrels are free,” from @MattieLou7.

Dolphins in captivity subject to stressful human interactions cause them physical and mental suffering. Dolphins in parks are confined to small tanks, which increase aggression and reduce necessary mental stimulation.
