Dogs are back in the White House! First lady Jill Biden tweeted that pups Champ and Major are with their family as of January 25!

“Champ and Major have joined us in the White House! 💕🐾,” she tweeted from her official account.

Their arrival marks the end of a four-year dog drought at the White House. Dr. Biden’s office confirmed the dogs’ arrival. “The First Family wanted to get settled before bringing the dogs down to Washington from Delaware,” Jill Biden’s office said. “Champ is enjoying his new dog bed by the fireplace and Major loved running around on the South Lawn.”

Major is a German shepherd that was adopted from the Delaware Humane Association. The Bidens adopted Major after fostering him in 2018. Champ is the Bidens’ other dog, who will be the other member of the Biden family in the White House. Champ and Major are seen regularly on the Bidens‘ social media pages.

The Bidens are also planning to bring a cat to the White House! Dr. Biden told a reporter in September about her hopes to get a cat. “Well, I’d love to get a cat. I love having animals around the house,” she told Fox 5’s Angie Goff. The Clintons were the last family to have a cat in the White House.
