Five months ago, we shared the devastating, tragic story of the horse massacre that took place in Kentucky. Fifteen horses were found shot and killed and then six more horses were found dead, clearly victims of the same shooting. Many of the horses were very young, just about a year old, and some were pregnant. One horse survived this tragedy. Her name is Hope and despite everything she went through, she recently gave birth to a healthy foal!
Hope was only one of three horses to survive. The other two survivors were her own foals, a colt named Knox and a filly named Diamond. In the caption of the YouTube video above, Kentucky Humane Society wrote: “Hope foaled a healthy colt at our Willow Hope Farm on Sunday morning 5/18. The colt is properly nursing and shares a strong bond with Hope. The foal is also learning from sister, Diamond, and all three are enjoying pasture time at the farm.”
As Lady Freethinker beautifully put it: “Hope has certainly lived up to her name, and it is a testament to her strength that what started as a tragic story has such a wonderful outcome.”
The shooter of the horrific massacre has still not been found but you can sign Lady Freethinker’s petition urging the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office to use all available resources to find and charge the perpetrator(s) of this horrific act.
