A Pit Bull Terrier is recovering after she was found in severe condition from being dragged behind a moving vehicle. The Humane Society of Louisiana is investigating the incident that happened on April 1st. Unfortunately, this is not the first time that cruel people have abused dogs by dragging them behind cars.

In September of last year, footage was released from Houston that showed people dragging a dog behind a truck for nearly a mile. There was a trail of blood, and the poor pup had to be treated for severe road burns and open wounds.

This time, the pup was found on the side of the road in Lafourche Parish, according to a Facebook post from the Humane Society of Louisiana. She was found with burns on her pads, sides, and legs. She was treated for her injuries and is expected to make a full recovery.

“This morning, we treated Lady, a wonderful pit bull terrier, who was found on the side of the road in Lafourche Parish, suffering burns on her pads, sides, and legs – caused by being dragged behind a vehicle! A clinic gave Lady some additional meds this morning, and she is expected t make a full recovery!” the Humane Society of Louisiana said in a Facebook post.

On April 1st, around 5:30 pm, a young couple found the poor injured pit bull terrier near a canefield. They immediately contacted animal control, and officers came to get the dog. They took her to Ridgefield Animal Hospital, where she was treated for her severe road burns. The clinic confirmed the dog was given pain meds, anti-inflammatory drugs, and antibiotics and is on her way to recovery.

Top Tail Rescue and Pet Services learned about the rescue story, and a woman and her fifteen-year-old daughter agreed to foster her and even renamed her Jelly Bean.

“We may never know what happened to poor Jelly Bean, but we are grateful she was found, treated, and will be loved for the rest of her life. We also hope that the person(s) who did this to Jelly Bean will have to appear in court and explain what happened and why she was covered in burns and left in a cornfield, likely to die from her injuries,” said Jeff Dorson, HSLA Director.

The Humane Society of Louisiana is eager to find the criminals that did this to poor Jelly Bean. This was an absolutely cruel act of animal abuse, and they should not get away with this. They are offering a $500 reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible.
