There are countless stories of the abuse that animals suffer in factory farms. Animals are kept in cramped cages, stolen from their mothers, mutilated, bred to unnatural sizes, and tortured until they are slaughtered for people to eat. It’s so heartbreaking to hear about the atrocities that animals endure at the hands of humans.

Not only is factory farming terribly cruel, but it is also unsustainable and extremely harmful to our planet as well as people working in or living near factory farms. Factory farming accounts for mass deforestation37% of global methane emissions, and uses 70% of the world’s freshwater. Factory farm workers are often exploited by factory farm owners as they are forced to work in terrible conditions for long hours and low pay.

Despite all of the issues and exploitation caused by factory farming, they are still very prominent. In fact, since 2010, the International Finance Corporation (IFC) has given approximately 1.8 billion dollars to the factory farm industry. Experts and environmentalists are urging large financial institutions like IFC to stop funding this environmentally destructive and cruel industry. They warn that factory farming could lead to another pandemic and antibiotic resistance as well as environmental destruction.
