Meet Alex, a sheep burdened by 88 pounds of extra wool and saved by a kindhearted bushwalker who helps him undergo an incredible transformation!

When Edgar’s mission, a non-profit sanctuary for rescued farmed animals found this poor animal, they completely changed his life.

The animal was so unaccustomed to humans, and loving-kindness, that Edgar’s mission could tell he was attempting to flee. It was clear that Alex was in shock when the team started the removal of his fleece. He had not seen the world around him in many years and was so weak that he couldn’t even stand. The rescue team lifted the wool from his face and his eyes became visible for the first time in a long while. At that moment, they instantly knew that Alex wanted to live.

Back at sanctuary, they administered life-enhancing fluids and began the difficult task of removing the thick fleece that was filled with urine, twigs, bark, beetles, and maggots. His fleece was so matted and dense that it stubbornly refused to cede to the shears. But somehow it miraculously did. All 88 pounds of it!
