A Central Florida man has been charged with an animal cruelty felony for pouring acid on his ex-roommate’s pet python snake.
The snake’s owner had previously been roommates with her landlord, Patrick Grimaldi. She left with her two kittens after Grimaldi was verbally abusive and controlling. Sadly, she was unable to take her snake at the time.
Grimaldi sent her photos of the dead python after she had moved out, and she reported the incident. A neighbor also said that she had seen the snake dead in its tank with an empty bottle of Calci-Solve super-strength concentrated descaler next to it. The snake had signs of distress and had been trapped in the tank with no way to escape.
The investigation was a straightforward one as all of the evidence was there. The snake had obviously been cruelly killed with the acid-like substance after the owner had left.
Grimaldi was taken into custody and is awaiting his charges of felony animal cruelty.
This sad story is a warning to all pet owners to be careful who they trust around their pets.
